The Morning Star Men SHG, Vaduthala is formed in 2017 with support of ESSS. Slowly they started to involve in social activities in their area. Realising that, many persons, including children of their locality, were addicted to drugs and influenced by anti-social elements, they decided to react and do something against such elements.
The group discussed it in detail and decided to launch a campaign, ‘Say No to Drugs’ with the support of political parties, residents associations and religious organisations. An awareness class is conducted as part of the campaign. The open discussion followed by the awareness class mooted several ideas to curb this problem. Finally, as a strategy for active surveillance, they decided to install CCTV cameras in key places in their locality. It ultimately resulted in checking the anti-social elements to an extent. They were not at rest with that effort. The group was very active in relief work of Kerala Flood 2018 and COVID-19 Pandemic.
