Leena Thomas is a member of Karuna SHG in Irubanam from the beginning of the SHG. After attending the training programme conducted by ESSS, Leena decided to make organic farming as a source of income with her husband’s support. She took a loan from SHG and started vegetable cultivation in 35 cents of land. Spinach is cultivated for six months every year from December to May and then from June to November vegetables like Tapioca, Beans, Elephant Foot Yam and Ash gourd are cultivated. Now she earns Rs. A respectable income from organic farming. Further, she is working hard to incorporate new technologies in agriculture.
