Ms. Annie Paul, Ms. Liji Jerin, Ms. Kochuthresia and Ms. Josephina Antony are coming from economically backward families of Kothad village of Kadamakkudy Grama Panchayath. They are also victims of 2018 flood. Since they were interested in starting some self-employment unit, ESSS provided training in candle making as part of the Athijeevan project funded by Caritas India and formed a Joint Liability Group, namely Anugraha. ESSS also supported them with all necessary equipment and materials like wax, dye, thread and vessels required to start the business on a small scale. Presently they are producing an average of 1000 candles per week. And each one is earning an income of Rs. 300/- per day.
