Ms. Sherly is a member of Jyothi SHG in Manjaly since 2006. She is coming from an economically backward family. She was trained in tailoring. With ESSS and animator’s support, she started a stitching unit in her home by taking a loan from her SHG. From the unit’s income, she closed her loan timely and it helped her become more confident. Then she took another loan from her SHG to start a stitching class in her home. She constructed a small shed along with the house and bought additional sewing machines for the purpose.
Further, she also started a garment business along with the unit. It helped her to train a lot of young women from her area in stitching. The unit was profitable, and it enabled her to contribute financially to her family. But the flood-2018 affected her badly, and her sewing machines were damaged in it. Yet again, ESSS helped her by giving a power machine for free. She revamped the stitching unit by repairing other machines. Her business once again flourished, and she was grateful to ESSS and SHG for making her life meaningful.
