Every year on March 8, Ernakulam Social Service Society celebrate International Women’s Day—a day to honor the achievements of women around the world, reflect on the journey toward equality, and renew our commitment to creating an inclusive and empowered future for all.
A Rally of Strength and Unity
Over 1,200 women’s self-help groups under the ESSS participated in the Women’s Day rally that began at Marine Drive. Very Rev. Msgr. Mathew Kallinkal, Vicar General, Verapoly Archdiocese flagged off the rally which proceeded to the Parish Hall of Infant Jesus Church.
Celebrating Milestones and Achievements
The Women’s Day meeting at the Infant Jesus Parish Hall was inaugurated by His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Antony Valunkal, Auxiliary Bishop of the Verapoly Archdiocese. The meeting was presided over by ESSS Director Rev. Dr. Antony Sijan Manuveliparambil and was graced by several other esteemed dignitaries.
Honoring Excellence and Service
Prior to the event, competitions such as poetry writing, recitation, and the ESSS anthem were conducted, and the winners were awarded during the function. Also, women who rendered exemplary service, and 48 self-help groups that completed 25 years of service were felicitated.
As part of Ujwalani, a hair donation campaign was organized to support cancer patients. Thirty-seven women donated their hair and were honored for their selfless act.
Celebration of Culture and Togetherness
The event also featured colorful dance and music performances, creating a joyful and energetic atmosphere. The celebrations concluded with a fellowship lunch, bringing everyone together in a spirit of unity and gratitude.
