EKA Men self-help group is a voluntary association of 20 rural men from Pizhala in Kadamakkudy Panchayat. All are coming from a low socio-economic background. They formed SHG with the motto of being the agent of mutual and community development. For this, they took initiatives to become an eco-friendly SHG. Further, they took 12 acres of land on lease to develop it into an organic food corridor as part of the tourism project. They already started Pokkali, traditional paddy cultivation in the coastal area.
Further, they plan to start aquaculture and tourism project with that. The bridge linking two neighbouring islands in that place is progressing as part of the project. It is rare to see such innovative projects being taken up by the rural people
